This peak literally rises out of the backyards of the residents of the Salt Lake Valley. You could take an Uber from the airport and in 15 minutes be at the trailhead starting the 4000 vertical feet of switchbacks, scrambling, and boulder hopping to the summit. More Info
Mount Timpanogos is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Wasatch. With multiple trails to the summit, it is one that you can do multiple times and make it feel like the first time. Plus no matter which way you go, you have a good chance of meeting the friendly residents. They have long white hair, horns, and hooves. More Info
Another one that rises straight out of the valley. Lone Peak not only is a tough hike but if you are feeling really adventurous, you can find some of the best granite rock climbing in the west at the cirque near the summit. The exciting route is the south ridge. It is a scramble of class 4 moves with exposure, route finding. You can also take the easier east ridge route. But don’t be fooled, no matter how you do it, there is some fun exposure. More Info
